Sayyidul-Istighfâr – La meilleure demande de Pardon

Au-delà du Istighfâr (demande de pardon) classique, celui appelé “Sayyidul-Istighfâr” est considéré comme étant la meileure formule de demande de pardon auprès d’Allah.

Il nous provient d’un hadîth issu de Bukhâri-sharîf, rapporté par Hazrat Shaddâd-bin-Aws [r.a.], que la saint Prophète [s.a.w.] a indiqué que le Sayyidul-Istighfâr est la meilleure façon de demander pardon de ses péchés auprès d’Allah, en rajoutant ceci : “Si quelqu’un le récite durant le jour avec la foi ferme en cela, et meurt le même jour avant la nuit, il sera au nombre des gens du Paradis ; de même que si la personne le lit durant la nuit avec la foi ferme en cela et meurt avant la matinée suivante, , il sera au nombre des gens du Paradis”.

Le Sayyidul-Istighfâr se lit comme suit :

Apart from the calssical Istighfaar (asking for foregiveness), the one called Sayyidul-Istighfaar is considered as the best way to ask Allah for the forgiveness of our sins.

It comes from a hadith of Bukhaari-shareef, reported by Hazrat Shaddaad-bin-Aws [r.a.], that the holy Prophet [s.a.w.] indicated that the sayyidul-Istighfaar is actually the best formulae to ask almighty Allah to forgive our sins, and added : “If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise ; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise”.

The Sayyidul-Istighfaar is read as follows:

Allaahumma anta rabbii laa ilaaha illaa anta khalaqtanii wa anaa ‘abduka wa anaa ‘alaa ‘ahdika wa wa’dika mastatwa’tu a’oûzubika min sharri maa swana’tu aboû-ulaka bini’matika ‘alayya wa aboû-u bizambii faghfirlii fa-innahoû laa yaghfiruz-zhunoûba illaa anta.

Traduction française :

Ô Allah, Tu es mon Seigneur. Nul ne mérite d’adoration à part Toi. Tu m’as créé et je suis Ton serviteur et je me soumets à ta convenance et Te promets de mon meilleur possible. Je cherche refuge en Toi contre le mal dont j’ai commis. Je reconnais Ton bienfait à mon égard et reconnais mes péchés, donc pardonne-moi, car en vérité nul ne peut pardonner les péchés excepté Toi.

English translation:

Ô Allah, You are my Lord. None has the right to be worshiped except You. You created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your convenant and promise [to honor it] as best I can. I ask refuge in You from the bad [evil] from which I committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sins, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sins except You.
